I know, I know, it has been awhile since my last entry. I apologize, but Kaia and I have been traveling like crazy (OK, Bryn has done some traveling too). We went to FL (without Bryn) and were back in RI for a week. Then we all headed to CA for Bryn's spring break and were in RI for a week. And now we are in MD (Kaia and I) and Bryn is in Carlise, PA at the Army War College. So as you can see we have been busy.
I already told you a bit about FL so we will fast forward to CA. We all went out and stay at Bryn and Nancy's (poor Jorn got kicked out of his room for us) for the most part. We got in late that Tuesday night and headed to SD to see some friends and deal with our house that finally just rented on Friday and returned to Orange on Sat. We sadly left CA on Monday. Kaia got to re-meet SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many people - her aunt and uncle, multiple cousins and lots of family friends. So did so great. Especially when I went away. When she saw me she got distracted. Kaia got to ride her first horse with Grandma, hang out in the pool with the cousins, get some special play time with Grandpa, play at the park with Dylan and Hayden and so much more. When we went to SD for the night Grandma came down so we got to go out with some friends that have a little girl just older than Kaia. Kaia and Claire got to play too. The weather was so beautiful that it made us miss CA more than we already did - and that is hard since we already missed it so much.
Once we got back to RI we started back on our schedule and routine there. All of our classes and groups started back up again. We have baby sign and music and we just started water tots (baby swim classes at the boys and girls club). I was so proud of Kaia. She was the only baby that didn't cry or get upset during the first swim class. She just smiled and laughed and took it all in.
We all drove down to MD yesterday. I have to admit that we had our moments, but it went better than I expected. We left at 9:15am and got in just before 7pm. And that was with 5 different stops for diapers, meals, etc. Bryn left this morning for PA and Kaia and I are staying with my dad. We are keeping the trip pretty mellow and not driving around to see people like crazy. My brother, Steve, flies in from TX on Friday and we are heading back to RI on Sunday.
Now that you know about our calendar lately I am sure you are dying to know what Kaia is up to. EVERYTHING!!! She is into everything. She is crawling and creeping and walking while holding onto one of my fingers. She will let go thinking that she doesn't need me, but she still does a little. She is pulling up on everything she can - stable and unstable. She is talking up a storm with her baba, mama, dada, gaga, etc. We play a where game where we ask where something or someone is and she is a rock star! We are constantly teaching her more signs. She is so observant everywhere. In classes, when we are teaching her new things she just can't take her eyes off of what is going on. We have a great Kaia motivator in RI. Her name is Squirt, our cat. Kaia will do whatever she has to to get to Squirt and Squirt learned if she jumps into the pack-n-play that Kaia can't get her:) Kaia loves animals. As soon as she sees a dog, cat, horse, etc she just starts talking up a storm. She also loves other kids and is drawn to them like a magnet regardless if the other kid is interested in Kaia. There is one person that stands out for Kaia and she hasn't even met her yet. We have pictures of Kaia's cousins from my side on the fridge. There is a picture of my niece, Abbi, that Kaia adores!!! She talks to her and wants to hold her all the time. Kaia is also starting to imitate what we say. When we are talking about Abbi she gets pretty close to saying her name.
I hear the little one waking so I will bring this to a close with the hopes that there won't be so much time between now and the next posting - but I make no promises:)
