Oops...
I realized after I published the last post that I completely skipped over Halloween. And she was sooooo cute! We didn't dress Kaia up last year because we moved in to Newport on October 30th and she wasn't even 4 months old yet. So we had to make sure that we did something this year. Kaia was a 50's girl (although she loves hats, etc I was afraid of a costume that made her keep something on her head for too long) and she got to wear it a couple of times. The Wednesday of Halloween week we went to a local library for a Halloween party. She was full of energy and was running everywhere. Storytelling went a little long so she was running around with her friend she affectionately calls B. Her name is Bailey, but since Kaia has nicknamed her B - even Bailey's mom has started following Kaia's lead. Kaia also got to wear her costume to a Halloween playgroup on Halloween. She never got freaked out by the costumes or really looked twice at them. She did love the decorations. We put some things up on her level here at our house so we could talk about them and teach her the signs and words. Kaia loves spiders!!! Her Uncle Jorn is not very happy about that. So she ran around wanting to touch all of the spider decorations at the festivities.
Yesterday was a first for us. Kaia and I were out running around and we stopped at a local coffee shop to have lunch and to let her out of the stroller to run around. She didn't have a good night of sleep on Monday night and we attributed it to teething. She has been chewing and drooling like crazy. She was acting a little clingy and sleepy earlier than she was due for a nap, but I thought it was because she didn't sleep well. As I turned to her to show her what I had brought her for lunch, she projectile vomited. I didn't know she had that much capacity in her little stomach. I won't go into the gory details, but the patrons around us moved away. Poor thing was crying and so upset because she didn't know what was happening to her. I pretty much had to strip her down and put her coat back on and put her back in the stroller. I got home as fast as my legs could carry us. Needless to say, it has been a rough couple of days for the two of us. Bryn lucked out and has long days at school. She is on the mend, but it was a huge first for the both of us.
