Another busy weekend has come and gone. We can't believe that Kaia is already over 4 weeks old. She is becoming more and more expressive and alert. She has some great faces that she likes to show off when she is waking up. Kaia is also starting to coo just a bit. She talks most to her Grandma.
Kaia recieved her first heirloom from her Great-Grandma Wava Skaggs. It was a crib blanket that was made by Kaia's Great-Great Grandma Roberta Braum. The figures were traced and embroidered from a Mother Goose book for her first child, John Edwin, born 11/6/21 and was used for all of Roberta's children. When I opened the gift I bawled uncontrolably. Great Grandma is good at giving such meaningful gifts.
Our weekend started with a walk to the Trolley Barn Park for our weekly Friday night concert. This time we had a bigger crew with our family. Grandma was there as well as Marissa and Sara and Brandon and their 2 month old daughter, Claire.
Saturday we met with our Doula, Becky, for the last time to wrap up the story of Kaia's birth. I couldn't have made it through the unexpected C-section so well if it wasn't for Becky's calming influence. After that we both headed to Marissa's for a cranial sacral session. Once we were home, Grandpa and Aunt Danja came down for dinner and to hang out with Kaia.
On Sunday it was just Bryn, Kaia and myself. We headed down for what we thought would be a quick walk at the beach. It turned into a 5 mile walk with two nursing stops along the way. We are getting much better at the public nursing thing. So far dinner has been served at the concerts in the park, the home of Bryn's old boss, a curb in a parking lot, a cafe, a bench on the beach...the list goes on and on. I am very thankful for my purchase of a nursing cover. One of the best purchases yet!
Today it is just Kaia, Squirt and me. Sounds like it is feeding time.
