Alayna

We aren't sure how the time flies by. It is almost 2 weeks since our last blog. I know many of you realize that because you have told me that I am behind. Well, I am glad that you are checking the site so often:)

Life here has been pretty busy with our day to day stuff and now we are trying to get ready to move next month. The movers are taking our things away on October 12th and we will begin begin our cross country adventure from Orange County on October 13th with Kaia and Squirt (our cat) in tow and head to Newport, RI. We will be taking just over 2 weeks to get there with stops to visit family and friends along the way. We have rented a 4 bedroom house in Newport just blocks from the beach and the cliff walk and less than a mile walk to downtown. Our house is on the market, but unfortunately the market isn't so great right now.

We finally picked out Kaia's bedding and nursery decor. I have been obsessing a bit because I couldn't find anything that I liked. Bryn is very happy to have it done so he doesn't have to hear about it any more. The room is going to have fun brighter colors instead of girly pastel colors. It is going to be full of fun flowers, butterflies, etc.

Kaia is getting bigger everyday. She continues to talk more and more. She is right on track according to the books because she has discovered her hands in the last couple of days. She plays with them a lot. She has also begun to follow Bryn and I with her head when we move out of her sight. She also has been taking shorter naps during the day which means I am lucky to get to eat. We have been trying to get her on a night routine to get her down at an earlier hour, but she is a night owl. We are lucky if she is down by 10pm. But once she is finally down she sleeps. Last night she slept for 10 hours straight.

Grandma has been very busy sewing. She made Kaia the cutest overalls and has a lot of great material and lots of patterns and plans. Grandma came down this past Thursday and spent a couple of nights with us. Bryn and I got a date night on Friday and got to go out for a nice dinner and went to see A Catered Affair (it is Broadway bound) at the Old Globe. We are enjoying the babysitting now because there won't be many date nights once we hit Newport.

Saturday we had an open house at our house so we packed up the cat and baby and headed to a friend's house for a birthday gathering.

Sunday Kaia got to meet the other side of Bryn's family. Nancy's family came over and everyone was calling dibs on Kaia. She did great and was awake for a good part of the day. That is probably why she slept so much last night.

Today was pretty mellow. We went for a walk when she wouldn't go to sleep. It was a beautiful day. Right now Bryn is trying to get her to sleep so I should wrap this up.
