Well, I am finally blogging from our very own couch!!! Oh my goodness, what a day! But we are finally here with most of our stuff.
This morning we checked out of our B&B and headed up the street (literally) to our house. We got here a little before the movers and walked around a bit more. The plan was that after the movers got there I was going to head to the grocery store to pick up cleaning stuff and drinks, etc for the movers. Well, that was before we learned that he had to stand by the front door and check off every inventory number of every box, piece of furniture, etc. So Bryn ended up taking care of the movers and everything while I took care of Kaia and Squirt. We are both exhausted from totally different things.
One of the biggest surprises we came across while trying to move in is that our queen box springs wouldn't fit up the stairs and there are no bedrooms on the entry level. So they are boxed up and we have matresses on the floor until we buy split box springs that can fold and go up the stairs. We also found out that our air hockey table couldn't make it into the basement so it is in pieces in the garage.
The interesting thing about having movers unpack you is that they can't actually put anything away. They aren't allowed. They empty boxes and put things on whatever flat surface that is available. So it pretty much looks like a hurricane hit the house. The movers showed up around 9am and left around 8pm. Since then we have done very little since we are fried. I did get the shower curtains up so we can shower in the morning.
Kaia and I spent a lot of time sitting in the car today. Squirt had been left in her carrier in the car for so many hours in the morning that Kaia and I hung out in the car so Squirt could be let out of her carrier. We did take a break from the car a few times while the movers were moving things in and out of the house. On one of those breaks we walked 2 blocks down to the start of the Cliff Walk. When we stepped outside the front of the house we could already see the ocean. The cliff walk was absolutely beautiful. We only walked down 2/3 mile of the 3 1/2 mile length because Kaia was hungry and had to eat. So we stopped and sat down to eat. But we didn't have any diapers with us so we had to turn around and head home. When we got back I asked Bryn if we could live here longer than a year. This area is so great and there is so much we can walk to.
The plan for tomorrow morning is to get up and Kaia and I will take a walk on the cliff walk while Bryn goes on a run. We haven't gotten to move, let alone exercise, the last few weeks. After that we will dive into the chaos.
We have to get some sleep so I will bring this to a close.
