2nd Break Through!
On the evening of Father's Day Kaia broke ground on her second tooth. You can't really see it yet, but it is there.
We had a Father's Day weekend with a day trip to Mystic, CT on Saturday and a day to hang out on Sunday. Kaia did some art work for Daddy and I made some breakfast after Bryn got to sleep in. The weather scratched our initial plans for a boat ride around the bay, but we did manage to get out for a walk in the afternoon and try out a pub that we have heard has the best burgers around. I do have to admit they were pretty good.
Kaia is moving all of the time (except now when she is sleeping). One of her latest tricks is dancing and singing - she is her mommy's daughter. She has a kitchen about her size that plays music, etc. She can activate the music and she stands there dancing and stomping and singing away. She does the same thing in the living room - the real one. She asks for the music to be turned on and she goes to town.
Bryn and I finally made it out of the house at night without Grandma Nancy babysitting! We have a sitter, but we have only used her during the day so we can do fun things like organize the garage, etc. Kaia's sleeping is still not ideal yet so we have hesitated to go out. But last Thursday Bryn handed in his last test and we went out that night. It was so nice to experience a little bit of adult Newport. Kaia did OK, but as we walked back to the house (walking is the beauty of Newport) we heard Kaia screaming at the top of her lungs. She had just woken up, but we paid the price and didn't get to bed until really late. We are already venturing into the world of the back up babysitter. Our sitter had to travel home to be with her family so we are using her roommate tomorrow when I have an appointment and Bryn will be finishing his last day of school. When I first interviewed babysitters I was much more through than I was meeting the back up yesterday. She is our sitter's roommate and babysits a lot. But it is funny how having one sitter under the belt makes it a little easier.
Aside from Bryn finishing school tomorrow, Bryn and Nancy will be arriving in town tomorrow night. This past 2 1/2 months is the longest Nancy has ever gone without seeing Kaia. So I am sure that I will have to hand Kaia over for the weekend:) Bryn and I also get a full date night out. Nancy is the only other person that has put Kaia to bed, so when we went out last week it was once she was alseep. Bryn and I have reservations on the Newport Dinner Train. It is a 2 1/2 hour trip while being served dinner, etc.
Kaia was up for 1 1/2 last night so she is still asleep now and I need to think about waking her up. Although quiet time in the house is so nice I hate to break it:)
