Break Through!!!

Kaia has been following in her mother's foot steps by being a toothless wonder. No, no, I still have my teeth now, but apparently had past my one year birthday without a single tooth in my head (as my grandma says). Well, right before bed on Monday, June 2 Bryn felt the tooth without its' usual gum covering. You can see a bit of the tooth and we are waiting for the tooth right next to it to break through too. This break through will open up a whole new world of finger foods for Kaia.

The walking continues. Now we don't have to coax her to walk anywhere. She will be walking holding on to our finger and just let go and keep walking. Or she will be playing with something and decide she wants to be somewhere else and just walk there instead of squatting down to crawl.

Her sign count is up to 20. Pretty amazing that an 11 month old has over 20 words. You get to add the signs and spoken words together for that number at the one year check up because they all utilize the language center in the brain. It is just that her manual skills develop before her vocal skills.

Some other favorites I have forgotten to mention are her favorite colors. She is her father's daughter. If there is something orange she is drawn to it immediately. The other favorite is red (Grandma Nancy must be very excited!).

The weather here is really, really gross. It is so hot and humid that it isn't even worth it to go outside. I put Kaia in the stroller yesterday for a quick walk to an appointment and we were both miserable. Luckily, Bryn just installed the air conditioner window units we inherited from a War College graduate. Needless to say, Grandma and Grandpa are very excited about the addition since they will be visiting in less than two weeks:) Before the weather got so bad we were enjoying all of the outside time. We would go to the many parks, beach, walk around town etc. Kaia loves being outside and will walk to the door and want to be picked up so we can go out.

She is still napping so I must set forth and accomplish!
