Kaia turns 1!!!

Hard to believe that a year has passed already. And it is even harder to believe how much she has grown and changed over the year. She is walking around on her own, signing like crazy, talking, dancing, climbing stairs, climbing everything, eating everything (not food oriented)and much,much more.

Today we headed to the Redwood Library (the oldest lending library in the country) for a kid's performance by Kaia's favorite musical personality, Mr. Christopher. Christopher runs the Music Together program here in Newport. We told Kaia we were going to see Mr. Christopher this morning and she got soooooo excited. Kaia was moving and dancing and saying hi to everyone at the library. Afterwards Bryn and Kaia and I went out on a walk while Kaia took a nap. It was hot and muggy so we were all a little sweaty. Once we got home and did some of our normal routine we broke out the ballons and streamers and presents and cake. I think Kaia's favorites were the balloons and streamers. She did rip open some presents and we got her all set up for her cake. We let her have at the 7 inch cake with a picture of a watermelon and she wasn't interested. She kind of touched it and Bryn tried to show her how to dig into the cake. She eventually got her hands in the cake and wanted to part in tasting it. She just looked at me with her hands covered in frosting and signed all done and wanted out.

So I would say we all had a good day. We remembered what we were doing a year ago at various moments throughout the day. And Kaia got to hang out with us and spend time with her favorite music man.
