Kaia is a working woman!!!
Well, it is official...Kaia has made her very own deposit into her college fund!!! Today she had her first photo shoot for a company called Aqua Leisure. They make baby pools. Perfect for a little girl who can't get enough of the water. She was such a pro that they only needed a few minutes of shooting time before they got the shot. So next summer keep your eyes open for Aqua Leisure's packaging on a baby pool with a sun shade. You will see Kaia there clapping in the pool with her fake mom sitting by the pool. Next week she is on hold for a First Years shoot, but we don't know for sure.
So my comment about the water...if you have been reading the blog you know that Kaia loved the pool at Grandma and Grandpa's and has been asking to swim almost every day since we got home. We found the perfect beach, Gooseberry Beach. There is hardly any current and it is picturesque with the mansions and rocky shore line as a back ground. The first time we took Kaia there she wasn't too happy when the water washed over her feet. So the next time I carried her in just like I have in the pool and it worked. The next time we went to Gooseberry she literally ran right into the water. She also spends a lot of her time there chasing the birds around the sand. I didn't know it was possible to get so sandy in such a short period of time. We have decided to spend as much time as possible at Gooseberry the rest of the summer.
Aside from the beach we have gone on a few day trips and are trying to plan a couple of New England trips before we move at the end of November. We have known that we are moving, but Bryn got verbal confirmation that we will be moving to the DC area and got the job that he had put in for. So all of you MD/DC people get ready, we will be lining up babysitters shortly:)
Another big first for Bryn and I is that we had someone other than ourselves or Grandma put Kaia to sleep last week. We finally got a great sitter and she got her to sleep without much incidence. We are so relieved to be able to have some adult time here in Newport before we go.
Kaia's language explosion continues and she has easily over 80 words between her spoken and her signs. She uses her words in context without being prompted. I gave her something today and she signed thank you to me right away. She is also able to follow some pretty complex ideas or directions without any hesitation. She is amazing. Kaia is literally running around the house and is everywhere. Today she chased me all around Bed Bath and Beyond - I mean the entire circle of the store. She is also big into chasing our cat, Squirt. Kaia cornered Squirt this evening and it took Squirt a minute to get away from her:)
We have also started "drawing" on her aqua doodle - it uses only water so she can't make a mess drawing on things. Today we bought her a big girl chair at Pottery Barn Kids and she crawled right up into it and was lounging in it. It was hysterical.
Time to head to bed before she wakes up:)
